Year of Celebration

Come and join in - a year to celebrate together

In 1318 the first known vicar of St Andrew's (Geoffrey de Boton) began his work. The 700th anniversary celebrations are under way!

2018 also marks the 25th anniversary of the New Church building.

Throughout the year there will be exhibitions, music, food, even an outdoor service and picnic in the park. This is a time for the whole Eaton community to join in.

Look at what's happening in March and April:

16 March to 1 April – ‘The Way of the Cross’

A special exhibition for Easter, featuring the work of all the students and staff of Eaton Primary School undertaken at a recent RE/Art Curriculum Day.  Fifteen 'stations' depict the Easter story, including Jesus' betrayal by Judas, the trial before Pontius Pilate and the High Priest, the denial of Peter, Jesus on the road to Calvary, the crucifixion itself - and in a special station that will appear on Easter Sunday, a glorious image of Jesus risen from the dead.
Special thanks to Mr Cate, the RE coordinator at the school, and to local artist Martin Cottam, for their work in leading this project.
Free exhibition, in the Church.

Sunday 25 March, 10am – Palm Sunday

The traditional Palm Sunday service with procession.

Guest preacher: Archdeacon Karen Hutchinson.

Throughout April - ‘Easter Memory Tree’

Easter is a special time, a story of death, but also of new life! So it’s a good time to remember those we’ve loved who have died. So why not leave a tribute on the ‘Memory Tree’? – just write a note on a leaf and add it to the tree, in the New Church throughout April – and we’ll remember your loved ones at the Memorial Service in the autumn.

Sunday 15 April, 3pm - 'Musical Delights'

Return of the hugely popular Eaton Concert Series: acclaimed duo Andrew Storey (violin) and Viv McLean (piano).

Sunday 29 April, 5pm - 'A Celebration of Baptism'

A special opportunity for all those who have been baptised (or ‘dedicated’) at any age – to come together, to give thanks for God’s goodness, and to think again about the promises made in baptism.
All welcome.  Tea at 5pm; service at 6pm.

Thursday afternoons, starting 5 April - Celebration Café!

All ages are welcome to call in at the new ‘Celebration Café’ – Thursday afternoons 2.30–4.30pm, starting 5 April. Whether you want somewhere to catch up with friends (or make new ones!), or a place to stop off before or after the school run – we look forward to seeing you.

Keep checking the website and notice boards for more information.
