This Autumn, our thoughts turn to thanksgiving. The Autumn newsletter begins with the thought that this is 'a time to enjoy the plenty we’ve been given, and to give some of it away.'
This term also brings the time of thanksgiving with remembrance. The Parade service will be on Remembrance Sunday, 12th November, starting at 10 am. It will be followed in the evening by the All Saints Memorial Service, when we all have the opportunity to give thanks for those we have loved and not forgotten.
On a local note, St Andrew's is preparing for thanksgiving and celebrations next year to mark the 25th anniversary of the New Church and the 700th anniversary of the first vicar coming to St Andrew’s - watch this space!
All our usual groups and children's activities are starting up again, including the Light Party on 20th October (booking form here).
And there are some extras
a Service of Healing and Wholeness on Sunday 8th October, at 10 am: a time to ask for God’s help to manage the burden of loss, tragedy or breakdown
the Autumn Fayre on Saturday 18th November: early Christmas shopping, cakes and more.
And finally: the electronic organ in the New Church was bought as a temporary instrument 24 years ago. It has served us well but is ageing - and technology has changed! - so we are considering the purchase of a new organ. If you wish, and are able, to support the music at St Andrew's, please see the Vicar's letter.
